First exhibition of traditional craft villages products in Ha Noi

VietnamSurpriseAccording to the Ha Noi Municipal People’s Committee, from October 12 – 18 an exhibition “Featuring the tourism products of traditional craft villages of Ha Noi and Red River Delta provinces” will take place.

During the exhibition, there is a seminar to discuss the current situation and measures for tourism development in craft villages and craft streets of Ha Noi will also be held with the participation of scientists, policy-makers, tourist companies, and international organizations such as Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV).

The government of Ha Noi has planned to develop six traditional craft villages into tourist destinations to attract domestic and international tourists from now until 2015. Including: Bat Trang-Kim Lan pottery in Gia Lam, Van Phuc silk in Ha Dong District, Son Dong fine art sculpture in Hoai Duc district, Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo weaving in Chuong My District, Du Du sculpture in Thanh Oai District and Ngo Ha mother-of-pearl inlay in Phu Xuyen District.

The city will focus on restoring historical and cultural sites, preserving old houses, building areas for product displays and upgrading the transport system, waste and water treatment facilities.

The home-stay services will be offered to give visitors the opportunity to learn about local people’s daily life.

By 2015, Han Noi will develop 14 other village-cum-tourist destinations.
