5 Best Trade Shows in Vietnam

How much do you know about trade in Vietnam? Would you be surprised to learn that Vietnam has one of the most open trading policies in Asia, and its international export trade has been valued at roughly $200 billion US dollars?

Vietnam is growing into an influential global force, and with that, it has developed a number of important and impressive trade shows. EventsEye has recorded at least 67 major trade shows in Vietnam in 2013, and there are likely to be even more next year. It’s hard to say which of these diverse trade shows are the best of the best, but I’m going to highlight 5 shows (in no particular order) that have been particularly successful, informative, and able to draw an international crowd.

1. Food and Hotel Vietnam

This show for the food and hospitality industry has always been a crowd-pleaser. Food and Hotel Vietnam takes place every 2 years, with the most recent show being held in the Saigon Convention Center in April 2013. This event drew 12,394 attendees and 434 exhibitors from 35 different countries as far reaching as Australia and the United States. In addition to all the vendors, it boasted presentations, tastings, and contests like the Vietnam Culinary Challenge and the Latte Art Competition.

2. Hanoi Gift Show

Hanoi gift showThis is the perfect show for anyone in the home decor and furniture industry – or anyone who enjoys perusing and purchasing hand-made crafts. There will be 550 booths at this year’s show, all set up in an open, environmentally-friendly arrangement. Vendors will have the chance to exhibit gorgeous home decor, handicrafts, gifts, furniture, textiles, accessories, and toys. The trade show is also offering optional free tours to international visitors, allowing them to see manufacturing sites, the city of Hanoi, and the craft villages of Bat Trang.

3. Green-Biz

Large businesses are becoming more environmentally conscious as climate change drives the need to conserve our planet, and Vietnam’s big businesses are continuing to push forward the eco-friendly movement with Green-Biz. The conference has been held twice before, in 2009 and 2011, and this year’s conference will take place in Hanoi during September. The show is backed by Renewable Energies in Vietnam, and visitors can expect a gala dinner, presentations, and a trade show. Over 50 speakers from business and academia, of both national and international origin, will present on sustainable development solutions for businesses.

4. Vietnam Telecomp

It’s fitting that Vietnam’s leading information technology exhibition would take place in Ho Chi Minh City, the hub of the communications industry in Vietnam. This mobile and electronics trade show is a long-standing tradition; this year marks the 15th Telecomp gathering, which has been happening since 1992. This year, organizers are expecting over 170 exhibitors and over 19,000 visitors.

5. International Travel Expo Vietnam

9th International Travel Expo

Vietnam is becoming an increasingly popular travel destination, so it makes sense that there would be a world-class travel expo in Saigon. This year, there will be more than 300 organizations representing more than 50 different countries. Organizers are also expecting at least 18,000 visitors to network and take in the offerings of the tourism and travel product industries. One of the most exciting parts about the event is that it will include different country and city pavilions, such as Visit Berlin, Korea: Be Inspired, and Amazing Thailand.
