Thap Ba Ponagar (Lady Tower Ponagar) located on Cu Lao hill, next to Xom Bong and infront of Cai river, Phuoc Vinh Ward, Nha Trang City. It was built from the eighth century, where worship Goddess Ponagar – the mother country’s Champa ethnic and also the “Thiên Y Thánh Mẫu” of ethnic groups of Vietnam.
According to legend, Goddess Ponagar created by sun and cloud sponges. She created the life and teachings of working people living life, the sacred god, protection, maintenance of, and desire to bless all peoples. She has to merit the trust of the people, encompassing the South Central region and the Central Highlands, and increasingly extensive influence in some central and northern provinces of South Vietnam. People call her is “Thiên Y Thánh Mẫu”, statuary, built temple and shrine. Every year, Thap Ba festival from 20 – 24/3 of lunar calendar, and became the biggest festival in Nha Trang City. The festival attracted lot of people who live in Khanh Hoa – Nha Trang and tourists cross the ceremony, carrying the ball dance, to the sepals, fruits… to worship her.
In 1979, Thap Ba Ponagar has ranked as a national heritage site. At Thap Ba erea, visitors not only enjoy firsthand the art of architecture – unique sculpture of the towers, the statue is carved over 100 years of life, but also can enjoy the wonderful scenery of the sea green, majestic mountains inside of Nha Trang City.
