Jam is a traditional food of Vietnamese Tet. There are many delicious jam jam squash, lotus jam, jam sweet potato… but delicious and loved by many people not to mention coconut jam. Instead of buying outside you can make coconut jam for family by yourself that is the reason why I share how to make coconut jam with you today.
Follow these steps below:
1. Ingredients:
- Coconut, to select coconut is not too old, not too young: 2-3
- Anulated sugar: 500g g
- Fresh milk without sugar: 250 ml
- Vanilla aroma: 1 tube
2. Instructions:
Step 1: Coconuts removed the hard shell, pour coconut water to a bowl, peel off the shell silk, and keep copra.
Step 2: Rinse again the coconuts for cleaning.
Step 3: Scrap aroud (circle) the coconuts by knife to the long coconut fiber. You can collect 1kg grated coconut fiber products to make jam.
Step 4: Soak the coconut in cold water about 7-8 hours, rinse in cold water to clean then put to the drain basket.
Step 5: Put coconut and sugar to a big bowl and use chopsticks to mix well, marinate for 10 to 12 hours until the sugar dissolves.
Step 6: After 12 hours, you put coconut in large pot or pan (with thick bottom) and add milk. Place the pot/pan on the stove, boiling heat with a low fire, use chopsticks to stir once time every 15-20 minutes.
Step 7: Heat a small fire was about 45 minutes to 1 hour to dry coconut and dried milk, when coconut dry and has more tiny dried sugar stick all around the outside pieces of coconut, take the pan out of stove then put vanilla powder and shake. At this stage you will see coconutslightly ivory tusks, but it will become white when expose to the sun.
Step 8: Pour coconut to a large basket, spread out and place to a open space about 1 day, and you put in the bottle use.
