Located in Lak and Krong Bong district, Dak Lak province, 60 km to the southeast of the Buon Ma Thuot city, Chu Yang Sin National Park encompasses a range of high mountains in the northern part of the Southern Annamite mountains.
Chu Yang Sin mountain range consists of many mountain peaks, and of which the 2,442m Cu Yang Sin peak is the highest one in Dak Lak. Chu Yang Sin National Park covers 59,667ha, with a tropical climate of high mountains. The topography has many slopes, facilitating varieties of forests with diversified flora and fauna, of which 44 species are rare and precious animals listed on Vietnam’s Red Book such as big halcyons, white headed hornbills and great hornbills.
Eight restricted-range bird species have been recorded in the park: Germain’s peacock pheasant, Black-hooded laughingthrush, Grey-crowned crocias, Collared laughingthrush, Short-tailed scimitar babbler, White-cheeked laughingthrush, Yellow-billed nuthatch and Grey-faced tit babbler. The most important of these species, from a conservation perspective, is Grey-crowned crocias, which is classified as globally endangered.
A total of 46 mammal species has been recorded at Chu Yang Sin. Mammals of particular conservation significance recorded at the site include Black-shanked Douc and Yellow-cheeked Crested Gibbon.
