Con Dao National Park in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province

Located in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, comprising of 16 islands of different sizes, Con Dao National Park is one of two national parks in Viet Nam owing both forest and marine protected area.

It has the total area of around 15,043 hectares, including 9,000 hectares marine and 6,043 hectares forest. The forests in Con Dao are mainly proterozoic, belonging to the tropical island ecosystem with 882 species of fauna, approximately 150 species of animal, among which there are some rare species only found in Con Dao such as winged house gecko, black squirrel, and some species of birds just existing in Con Dao like Red-billed tropicbird, Masked booby, Rock pigeon and Nicba pigeon.

Con Dao National Park

Con Dao National Park has various marine ecosystems with 285 species of hard coral, 202 species of fish, 84 species of seaweed, 153 species of mollusc,… What is more, aquiherbosa ecosystem, geophyte in sea estimate about 200 hectares, comprising of 9 species among 16 ones in the world. The Con Dao’s sea is a home of tortoise-shell, Black whale, turtle and especially Dugong, one of the extremely rare species in the world.
