Hoang Lien National Park is located in the Sapa town, belong to the communes of: San Sa Ho, Lao Chai, Ta Van, Ban Ho, Sapa district; apart belong to Van Ban disctrict – Lao Cai province and Muong Khoa, Thân Thuộc commune, Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province.
From the town of Sapa, tourists go through a winding ramp about 20km, you will reach the O Quy Ho mountain pass – Hoang Lien mountain pass, where it is located in the National Park. Continue along the trail winding mountain at an altitude of over 1,000 meters above sea level, visitors will encompass the mountain scenery here – a vast forest with trees covered by the golden sunshine bands intertwined… Which is looming ever tie azalea, forest orchid, plum blossom… as are blooming together, the distance, the ethnic village equivocal through each thin mist…
Hoang Lien National Park – one of the important special-use forests in Vietnam with a total area of 29 845 ha core areas, including a high mountain systems of Hoang Lien Son range, including the 3,143 m high peak Fansipan and buffer area is about 38 724 ha, including the Sapa town, a commune in Sapa district, a part of Van Ban District, Lao Cai Province and 2 communes in Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province.
The main forest of Hoang Lien National Park is a primitive forest with a fauna rich and diverse.
About the flora, there are over 2,000 species of plants with typical wood such as military service, Bodhi, rhododendron, Fokienia, Rhamnus crenatus Sieb…, of which about 66 species are listed in Vietnam’s Red Book such as: Calocedrus macrolepis, Tsuga dumosa, bamboo pine, red pine…, and hundreds of herbals. Especially, scientist still finds Lingzhi fungus, Sapa bamboo (nứa Sapa) – which mainly distributed in the high mountains of China and Vietnam.
Besides a rich forest flora, fauna forests are diverse with 66 species of mammals, such as: Trachypithecus delacouri, Tragulidae, Nomascus concolor…, 16 species are in the Red Book of Vietnam; 347 species of birds, 41 species of amphibians and 61 species of reptiles, of which spikes are rare frog species in Vietnam has newly discovered.
With rich forest ecosystems such, Hoang Lien National Park is considered one of the center’s most biologically diverse of Vietnam.
Arriving to Hoang Lien National Park, visitors are coming to ecotourism environment attractive. In this park, visitors will feel moments over the Spring – Summer – August – Winter within 1 hour. Come and stay at the local house, visitors will be the dog house working with their families and enjoy music activities at house of culture in the evening.
