Located at Mong hamlet, Hua La commune, Son La city, Mong hamlet is far from city center about 5km at the Southwest. Mong hamlet hot Spring is also called “Bo Nam Un”, be a natural source of hot water among majestic mountains in the Northwest area. Since 1997, this Spring was managed and carried on business properly, changed the mindset of local people, contribute to improve the living standard of Thai people in Mong hamlet.
Hot mineral water spring
Mong hamlet is the home of 106 households belongs to the black Thai people, they stay in houses on stilts that are roof of tiles, along the hillside. Notably, in the gable on the roof of those houses are always adorned by all kinds of “Khau cut”, is two crossed wooden sticks, it became a cultural icon, not only unique beauty but also contains many human life sense. In addition, the window with all shapes such as ivory, moon,… also add to the characteristics of the Thai house.
People in Mong hamlet are very kind and hospitable. Most of them do traditional handicrafts such as ironwork, textile, knitting, pottery,… From the last years of the twentieth century, 16 households at roadside carried on business service of the bath at hot Spring and many other households also participate in the processing of special dishes to serve the tourists.
Probably, it will not be necessary when finding out emergence time of the Mong mineral water Spring, fact, as soon as establishing, people in Mong hamlet used that water source for daily living. According to the results of survey of INCODEMIC mining company that belongs to Vietnam chemical corporation, Mong hamlet hot water has temperatures in 380C and change following seasons or weather. That water does not have the strange smell, transparent, colorless in the raining season, meet quality requirements in accordance with regulation on quality management of mineral water, bottled water by Ministry of Industry and Science – environment dated October 23rd,1997.
The interested thing is, the temperature of Mong hamlet hot water changed following seasons. In the summer, due to geological structure is already absorbed dissolve rainwater with the mineral, it is slightly hot, and in the winter, the hot water vapor that make people forget the feeling of bathing in the middle of cold winter.

Be planned in eco-tourism populations of the Son La city, Mong hamlet is a culture hamlet that has gradually evolved to become an eco-tourism culture and leisure, attract not only tourists domestic but also international tourists.
The road to Mong hamlet have been widely paved, winding around the beautiful hillsides. On the road of about 200m, the signboard “hot mineral bathing” was written in both Vietnamese and English with bright lights advertising every night to make many tourists be surprising… Interestingly, the tourists can freely choose destination without worry about being bothered much as the other municipality.
For a long time, along with developing rice farming, Mong hamlet people in particular and Thai people in general already created typical dishes such as “Khau tan” (steamed glutinous rice) that are made from glutinous rice, be kept in “ep khau” (bamboo knitting), blue rice that is processed from soaked rice, then place in small bamboo and burn on charcoal and many delicious dishes.
Coming to the eco-tourism Mong hamlet, besides relaxing in warm water, visitors also have the opportunity to visit, discover the life and deeply traditional culture of Thai ethnic people.
