Discover Pu Mat National Park

VietnamSurpriseLocated in Tuong Duong, Con Cuong and Anh Son districts, Nghe An province, Pu Mat National Park is about 130km from Vinh City. Where not only has many unique animals and the primitive forest but also many beautiful landscapes.

The Pu Mat National Park, formerly known as Pu Mat National Reserve, covers an area of over 91,000 ha where is the home of more than 241 mammal species, 896 flora species, 137 bird species, 15 amphibians and 25 reptiles. This park is considered as a Viet Nam’s great museum of animal gene pool.

Sao La in Pu Mat National Park - Vietnam

Pu Mat is one of Viet Nam’s rare forests (Danang, Quang Nam, Thua Thien-Hue, Ha Tinh) where “Sao La” (long-horned bovid or scientific name Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) can be found. According to the World Conservation Union’s Red List of Endangered Species, “Sao La” is one of the animals facing extinction now.

Pu Mat National Park not only has many unique animals, the primitive forest but also many beautiful landscapes such as: Giang River, the 150m Kem Waterfall, and ethnic minority villages in the forest such as Thai, Tho, Dan Lai and H’Mong.

Coming here, you can join lots of trekking tours, where travelers have an opportunity to explore the jungle and unique villages, learn about ethnic minorities arts and culture, how to be making brocades or “Thổ cẩm” and enjoy special food.
