As a beautiful uninhabited island, Hon Seo in province of Binh Dinh is an ideal destination for those who want to explore the sea and island, see colourful pebbles on the beach, cross large rocks, take a dive, go fishing, and enjoy freshly-caught seafood.
Hon Seo island is located off the Phuong Mai Peninsula in Nhon Ly commune, far about 15km northeast of Quy Nhon city – Binh Dinh province, Hon Seo Island is famous for its pristine beauty. Hon Seo island, which when seen from the mainland resembles a huge ship sailing to shore, is a wild oasis with cliffs, feral plants, various birds and wild sea creatures.
When travel in Hon Seo, you will use boat services of tourism companies or maybe hire fishing boats from fishermen at Nhon Ly commune. Starting from Nhon Ly beach, you will pass through the Gio channel to Yen Island (swallow island). The trip will take you 20 minutes to get to Hon Seo island. But if you start from Quy Nhon port, you will spend more than an hour to get there.
The first impression when you reach Hon Seo is transparent water. Easily see strange coral reefs and lot of colourful fish of different kinds in water. There are large and small rocks piled up around the island, and you may want to climb them to view the sea.
Traveling in Hon Seo you will see a long stretch of colourful pebble stones, this is the one of the most interesting things of Hon Seo island. Eroded by the action of ocean waves over the years, the pebbles become round, smooth and colourful. The pebbles are so beautiful that lot of visitors want to take home as pretty souvenirs or even to decorate houses or make a rock-garden.
There is a huge natural stone cave far from 10 metres from the pebble stretch toward the foot of the mountain. The cool atmosphere and its capacity of accommodating hundreds of people make this cave an ideal stop for tourists.
At the top of Hon Seo, you will think can touch cloud and view the wide sea. There are the Phuong Mai islands jutting out on the left-hand side of the sea, while the Gio channel, Yen Island and long sand dunes far away on the right-hand side.
The combination of the Gio channel, Yen Island and the Phuong Mai islands looks like a huge pair of arms to embrace the island. With breathing cool, fresh air from the sea that make you feel relaxed while standing there. Especially, one of the most time to go sightseeing in Hon Seo that are sunrise or sunset.
Hon Seo is a wonderful tourism destination for adventure tours. You may go rock climbing, camping, sightseeing or fishing, and then cook… If you love fishing, you should start to fish catch in the morning and make sure do not forget fishing bait and rods. If you are a lucky person, you may catch lot of fishes or big fish.
You might also join local fishermen to experience fishing for eel or big fish, and then cook and eat them as a reward for successful fishing, as the locals usually do.
