My Birthplace Festival, a huge cultural and gastronomic event, will be held at Van Thanh Tourist Area and Binh Quoi Tourist Village from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 1, 2 and 3.

This year’s festival will feature a variety of activities, involving food, local community activities, art performances, folk games and traditional crafts.
Visitors will be prepared selected dishes from the north, the central, the south, the northwest and the central highlands, with the participation of travel agencies of Gia Lai, Daklak, Ben Tre, Dong Thap and Can Tho.
For local community activities, the organizers will depict countryside markets of the northern, central and southern regions. Scenes of the
traditional markets in the northwestern highlands are expected to add color to the festival.
Visitors will have a chance to join many traditional games and instructions for children to make traditional toys from coconut and bamboo leaves.
Moreover, many traditional crafts such as Ninh Hoa-style vermicelli (Nha Trang City) and Phong Dien-style vermicelli (Can Tho City) will be demonstrated by artisans.
All these activities will be held concurrently in a setting full of Vietnamese cultural features. The highlight of this festival is daily activities of fishing villages with various boats, fishing nets, fishing equipment and local delicacies.
Located 2 kilometers from downtown Ho Chi Minh city, Van Thanh Tourist Area covers over seven hectares. The site has been the venue to host many cultural and food festivals such as ‘My Birthplace Festival’ since 2006, ‘Thang Long Food in the South,’ ‘Wine Festival,’ ‘Taste of the World’ and Oktoberfest.
